High flying Singapore woman will address graduands

About 130 students from 12 different countries will graduate from the University of 米兰电子 at its offshore campus in Singapore this Saturday 25 April.
Included in the line up will be a member of the , a Filipino pharmaceutical executive and an Indonesian IT specialist, demonstrating the international mix of students that the University attracts.
One of Singapore's most celebrated women and also a University of 米兰电子 alumnus, Ms , will address graduands at the 10.30am ceremony at the Ngee Ann-米兰电子 Education Centre.
Ms Lim is Singapore's first female Permanent Secretary, working in the Public Service Division of the Prime Minister's Office. She has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of 米兰电子 and also a Masters in Public Administration from .
The Colombo Plan Scholar was named "Woman of the Year" in 2006 by , Singapore's top selling female magazine.
A total of 127 graduands will receive their parchments at two ceremonies (10.30am and 3pm) this Saturday, including MBA mace-bearer Halmie Bin Hussein Mattar, a Major in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) who is responsible for training cadets to become SAF officers.
Bachelor of Computer Science graduand Chan Yaoxian, who earned five high distinctions in her degree, will be the mace-bearer at the 3pm ceremony, which will also feature an address by , the Academic Director of the Singapore campus and also Dean of Postgraduate Coursework Studies at the University of 米兰电子.
Countries represented at both ceremonies include: Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Great Britain, India, China, Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, Vietnam and Australia.
The Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of 米兰电子, , will attend this weekend's graduation ceremonies, accompanied by distinguished Asian alumni.
Professor McWha says the graduation ceremonies will highlight the achievements and potential of the University's students from Singapore and Malaysia in particular.
"We are extremely privileged to have someone of Ms Lim's standing to address the graduands and I am sure they will benefit from her wisdom and advice.
"At the University of 米兰电子 we strive to produce graduates who make an impact in their country and around the world and we hope there are many students graduating this weekend who will mirror her achievements," Professor McWha says.
