米兰电子 in world league for scientific research

米兰电子 is among nine Australian universities included in a list of the world's top 100 universities for science citations over the past 10 years.

The list was compiled by a team from the Australian National University (ANU), drawing on information in the international citations database, the Institute for Scientific Information. (Citations are references to a work in another research paper or refereed journal, and are regarded as good measures of research performance).

The ANU team looked at citations across 21 science subject categories. The nine Australian universities to make it into the world's top 100 in one or more categories over the past 10 years are: 米兰电子, ANU, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, University of New South Wales, University of Western Australia, Macquarie Univeristy and Monash University.

University of 米兰电子 Vice-Chancellor Prof Cliff Blake AO said the figures confirmed 米兰电子's stature as an international leader in scientific research.

"米兰电子 is consistently out-performing many larger institutions in terms of its research impact," Professor Blake said. "The South Australian tradition of scientific innovation extends back to the earliest days of the Waite institute, and the University of 米兰电子 is continuing that tradition today through cutting-edge research in fields such as agricultural and medical biotechnology, food production, wine, natural resource management, and IT and telecommunications. Some of the world's finest scientists are working in 米兰电子, both here at the University and in our partner institutions.

"Already this year the University has been awarded the National Centre for Plant Functional Genomics as well as a key role in the new Biotechnology Centre of Excellence. The recent restructuring of sciences at the University, and the appointment of a new Executive Dean, Professor Peter Rathjen, means that we are now strongly positioned to build on our success in scientific research and teaching and make an even bigger contribution to South Australia's economic well being."
