CRC funding success for 米兰电子
Wednesday, 11 December 2002
米兰电子 has performed well in the latest round of Federal Government funding, this time for co-operative research centres (CRCs).
The University is a partner in eight out of the 30 successful CRC applications for 2002. This brings the total number of CRCs in which the University is a participant to 20.
The successful CRCs and their University of 米兰电子 contact people are:-
Greenhouse Gas Technologies Dr John Kaldi and Professor Peter Behrenbruch
Plant-based Management of Dryland Salinity Professor Phil Hynd
Molecular Plant Breeding Professor Peter Langridge
Poultry Dr David Tivey
Desert Knowledge Dr Jocelyn Davies
Oral Health Science Professor Mark Bartold
Environmental Biotechnology Mr Paul Harris
Viticulture Professor Margaret Sedgley
Five of the CRCs - Poultry, Desert Knowledge, Oral Health Sciences (all new CRCs), Greenhouse Gas Technologies and Environmental Biotechnology (existing CRCs) - represent a new participation for the University of 米兰电子.
米兰电子's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Edwina Cornish says she is delighted with University's success, estimating it will receive about $20 million over the next seven years through these eight particular CRCs.
"Our continuing success in attracting Federal funding is directly attributable to the quality and relevance of our researchers' work," she says. "The fact that we are now involved in 20 CRCs is also testimony to the diversity of our research; it shows that we are very strong in many research areas.
"CRCs are all about partnerships, and I'm very pleased that University of 米兰电子 can work closely in these CRCs with other Government laboratories and industry."
