Uni of 米兰电子 appoints new Professions Dean

Professor James McWha, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of 米兰电子, today announced the appointment of Professor AM as Executive Dean, (incorporating Law, Business, Economics, Education and Architecture).
Professor Findlay will commence in the position immediately following the promotion of Professor Pascale Quester to Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) earlier this year.
Professor Findlay has been Acting Executive Dean of the Faculty of the Professions since June 2011, following five years as Head of the at the University of 米兰电子.
Professor McWha said Professor Findlay is recognised as a remarkable teacher and researcher with extensive experience in both public and private sector consultancy.
"We are delighted that Professor Findlay has accepted this senior leadership role at the University. He is a brilliant academic and researcher with a proven track record in higher education, trade and international relations."
Professor Findlay has quickly established a strong reputation within the University community.
"Professor Findlay is widely regarded by his peers and students as a dedicated teacher. He brings tremendous insights to his work, in addition to outstanding links to industry," said Professor McWha.
"As head of our largest Faculty (by student number), Professor Findlay will play a pivotal role in consolidating the teaching programs and further developing research strengths across the Faculty. His broad experience and outstanding analytical ability will be invaluable as the University prepares for significant change in the sector in coming years."
Professor Findlay said this opportunity is the next step in a career dedicated to improving major policies and strategic decision-making through economics.
"We're in a new wave of globalisation in both education and research in our sector, so this is an exciting time to take on a senior role in an organisation with the international standing of the University of 米兰电子," said Professor Findlay.
Professor Findlay took up the position of Professor of Economics at the University of 米兰电子 in 2005 following his role as Professor of Economics in the Asia Pacific School of Economics and Government at the Australian National University (ANU).
Professor Findlay has been involved in research on the Chinese economy and many of those in ASEAN. He has a special interest in the development of the service sector. He has served as a consultant for a number of multilateral agencies including the World Bank and the OECD.
Professor Findlay holds a PhD and M.Ec from ANU and an Honours degree in Economics from the University of 米兰电子.
