米兰电子 today kicked off its new research fellowships scheme that will see well over $10 million invested over three years as part of its new research strategy, .
The first round of 26 Fellowships ─ six three-year fellowships and 20 one-year fellowships ─ have been offered to early and mid-career researchers, some existing University of 米兰电子 staff and titleholders, and others being attracted from interstate and overseas.
米兰电子 Research Fellowships Scheme is one of a number of initiatives being supported under an additional $50 million of University research investment over three years.
“The Research Fellowships scheme aims to retain, attract and support early and mid-career researchers of outstanding calibre and potential,” says Professor Mike Brooks, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). “These are all highly regarded individuals, earmarked for their potential to develop strong research careers.
“We are investing in both the University’s and Australia’s future, by promoting and building capacity in research excellence and innovation.”
The projects being funded are in various strategic priority and high performing research areas including: cardiovascular and metabolic health and nutrition; public health; population and migration; plant breeding; defence and security; nanophotonics; geoscience; genetics and evolution; ecosystem restoration; and pure mathematics.
Last month the University announced it would provide an additional $6 million over the next three years for infrastructure ─ research equipment, infrastructure and access to national and international facilities.
Other initiatives include additional PhD scholarships and interdisciplinary research projects, and further initiatives will be launched downstream in support of innovation, incubation and global research connectivity.
