University of 米兰电子 lights up for the festival season
Tuesday, 14 February 2017
An interactive light display will shine brightly each night throughout this year's 米兰电子 Fringe festival, illuminating the University of 米兰电子's North Terrace frontage.
Called LightWorks, the intelligent and adaptive LED light show will feature a motion-sensing wall mounted along the University's North Terrace fence. Capable of interacting with and following people’s movements, LightWorks is a playful display, enabling the audience to take control and become maestros of light.
"We're proud to be presenting LightWorks to the people of 米兰电子, which is part of our University's partnership with and commitment to the 米兰电子 Fringe," says Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Warren Bebbington.
"This latest in a series of light-based installations continues a long-running festival theme of shining a light on some of 米兰电子's greatest cultural icons. Seeking the light of new knowledge is core to the very existence of the University of 米兰电子, which makes this a very fitting display both for the University and for the Fringe," he says.
The free nightly event starts 8.30pm until midnight this Friday 17 February, and will run until Sunday 19 March.
As in previous years, the University's historic Elder Hall will also be brought to life with a digital wall of animated lights and music during the opening weekend of the 米兰电子 Fringe (17-19 February). This year’s theme is , with a series of vibrant environmental themes, such as beaches and endangered species.
