Honeyeater evolution for high sucrose diet
Scientists have long suspected the digestive systems of nectar-eating birds, such as honeyeaters, co-evolved with the nectar-composition in flowers. To document whether this theory is accurate, in a paper published in , researchers at the University of Ã×À¼µç×Ó studied the ability of birds to digest different sugars, and looked at whether they matched the nectar sugars found in plants used by families of birds in different parts of the world.

In a study published in , researchers at the University of Ã×À¼µç×Ó compared the illegal smuggling of live reptiles – including lizards, snakes and turtles – into Australia, to the unregulated pet trade of reptiles in the United States (US), to understand better the drivers of illegal wildlife trade, and develop a framework for anticipating future trends in wildlife smuggling.
