米兰电子 has locked in a partnership with the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) to share learnings from the University鈥檚 world-class health simulation facility, 米兰电子 Health Simulation.

Thirty-one representatives from three universities within the Philippines 鈥 UPM, West Visayas State University and Mindanao State University 鈥 recently completed a five-day simulation based education workshop at 米兰电子 Health Simulation.

The workshop provided an understanding of how simulation-based education could be applied to the Philippine higher education sector.

Dr Michael Tee, Vice-Chancellor, The University of the Philippines Manila, said the collaboration with the University of 米兰电子 would be extremely beneficial in improving how the three universities delivered health-related teaching.

鈥淧artnering with the University of 米兰电子 will provide our teachers and students the opportunity to expand their knowledge in optimising the use of simulation-based education in health sciences education,鈥 Dr Tee said.

鈥淲e appreciate the guidance of the University of 米兰电子 in how The University of the Philippines Manila will establish our own clinical skills simulation centre, and train providers, as individuals, inter-professional and multidisciplinary teams, in the proper assessment and management of clinical skills training.

鈥淭hrough training and education, UPM, WVSU and MSU can rapidly respond to current societal needs.

鈥溍桌嫉缱 Health Simulation is a great resource that will allow us to train our next generation of health professionals in the Philippines.鈥

Opened in 2017, 米兰电子 Health Simulation is the most technologically advanced simulation facility in Australasia.

The education, training and assessment centre is located in the 米兰电子 BioMed City precinct, alongside the Royal 米兰电子 Hospital, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute and the University of 米兰电子鈥檚 medical and nursing school.

Associate Professor Adam Montagu, Director of 米兰电子 Health Simulation, said the partnership would strengthen the University鈥檚 ties with the Philippines and further illustrates its educational leadership in the Asia-Pacific region.

鈥淲e are always looking for ways to collaborate and share knowledge with other institutions that will lead to positive outcomes and improved patient safety,鈥 Associate Professor Montagu said.

鈥淲e are thrilled to be working with The University of Philippines Manila and the Philippines as a whole, to help build the capacity of their current and future health workforce.鈥

Dr Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Engagement), University of 米兰电子, added: 鈥淭he Philippines is an important country for University of 米兰电子 collaboration.

鈥淭hrough our partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the Philippines, and UPM, we look forward to building stronger ties in research and teaching during the coming years.鈥
